Title: Selected hormonal and metabolic disorders in girls with Turner syndrome

Abstract:

The common goal of the presented dissertation is to analyse selected metabolic and hormonal factors and their correlation with conducted treatment, especially with hormonal replacement therapy in Turner Syndrome (TS) patients in prepubertal and pubertal period. Detailed goal of article 1 was evaluation the influence of low-dose estrogen replacement therapy introduced in patients with ZT at the age of physiological puberty, but before the recommended age for starting standard dose estrogen replacement therapy on selected metabolic factors. In this study we demonstrated that in TS patients low-dose estrogen replacement therapy in prepubertal age is associated with healthier lipid profile than conventional estrogen replacement therapy and has no negative impact on growth and effects of rhGH treatment. Detailed goal of article 2 was evaluation the influence of hormonal replacement therapy and obesity on liver function in TS patients during several years of observation. As a conclusion we found that constantly elevated liver function tests (LFTs) are common in children and adolescents with TS. This study suggests that obesity and HRT do not increase the risk of elevated LFTs. Detailed goal of article 3 was attempt to evaluating the usefulness of antymüllerian hormone (AMH) and inhibin B assessment in predicting ovarian function as complement to the diagnosis of ovarian function in p ; atients with TS. Based on obtained results we found that low levels of AMH and inhibin B may indicat e a risk of ovarian failure even in patients with spontaneous puberty and without hypergonadotropic hypogonadism
