Title: Evaluation of treatment prostate cancer patients with the traditional, open radical prostatectomy in comparison with laparoscopic radical prostatectomy
Abstract:
Prostate cancer is one of the most common oncological diseases affecting the population of men in Europe. In recent years the number of patients who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer is growing; as well as through increased awareness of patients and the general availability of diagnosis, this disease is diagnosed in the early stages of development. This allows the implementation of radical treatment. With the advancement of medical knowledge and instruments used in the surgical treatment of prostate cancer patients the growing number of classic open radical prostatectomy is replaced by a laparoscopic technique.The most important purpose of the treatment of patients affected by the cancer is to cure the cancer disease. But significant attention should also be paid to ensure that the patient after surgery is given best possible quality of life.This paper presents a comparison of open radical prostatectomy with laparoscopic radical prostatectomy in terms of perioperative parameters of both techniques, evaluation of early oncological results of treatment with both techniques, as well as to explore the early results of urinary incontinence in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. It also investigate what is the learning curve of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. In addition, the study analyzed the accuracy of the assessment of the clinical stage of prostat ; e cancer in correlation to the pathological stage, as well as compliance histopathological findings obtained from a biopsy with the results of post-operative specimen.
