In the developed countries the occurrence of obesity increases rapidly. Taking in consideration the significance of the problem the researchers try to indicate the dietary factors which positively influence the metabolic parameters among patients with metabolic syndrome. The aim of this study was to evaluate biochemical parameters of postprandial lipemia in patients with metabolic syndrome and the influence of dietary fatty acids, as well as n-3 PUFA supplementation, during the 3-months dietary intervention (high fat or high carbohydrate) . Before and after dietary intervention patient completed OLTT. The concentration of glucose, c-peptide, insulin, HOMA-IR, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, TG, FFA, leptin, adiponectin, inflammation parameters such as: resistin, CRP, IL-6, TNF-α and parameters of endothelial dysfunction: vWF, sICAM, sVCAM were measured in fasting blood samples. Then, every 2 hour (in 2h, 4h, 6h and 8h) the levels of TG, FFA and insulin were measured. The conducted study indicates, that the appropriate selection of fatty acids can influence the parameters of postprandial lipemia. Moreover, it seems that the evaluation of biochemical parameters during the functional test, such as the OLTT is more sensitive, than the fasting blood samples’ measurement. The observation of the unfavorable impact of the HC diet among patients with MS was an interesting outcome of the st ; udy. It occurs, that in case of the MS patients with insulin resistance, dietary recommendation of the high fat diet modified by MUFA/n-3 PUFA content is more favorable.
