Title: The assessment of the effects of application the neuromuscular coordination exercise in rehabilitation after tibia plateau fracture treated operatively

Abstract:

The methods of treatment of tibia plateau fracture require immediate exercises after surgery. The aim of the physiotherapy is to restore the model of movement that brings back the function of the lower limb. The objective of the research project was to check how the neuro-muscular control exercises affect the function of the lower limb. The exercises as well as the methodology allowed to apply this model to all patients regardless of age or coexisting illnesses. This program is based on neuro-muscular control exercises and it does not apply the exercises that increase the range of motion or extra pressure. The research has been carried out on patients after tibia plateau fracture treated surgically in Orthopedics and Trauma Clinic in 1997-2011. The research group consisted of 30 people in average age of 51 (21-77 years old). The patients lower limb were examined before and after the application of program. Their ROM and muscular strength was tested. Their physical cost index was estimated, and a questionnaire of a subjective assessment of the joint after the fracture was carried out. Analysis of data before and after the program let us to conclude that the exercises of neuro-muscular coordination improved the range of motion in the joints of the lower limb and improved the muscular strength. The energy used to walk was decreased. The subjective assessment of the kne ; e joint after the fracture has been improved. The positive effects of the applied exercises were noticed in patients regardless of their age and timę that passed when since the injury. The results of the research allow us to conclude that the exercises ot the neuro-muscular coordination are an effective method of treatment after articular fractures.
