The thesis provides an evaluation of partie u lar parameters of proctodefecography and manometry in patients with prior low anterior resection of the rectum for rozprawy carcinoma. The patients were divided into four groups: gr. 1, the controls, gr. 2, with soiling, gr. 3, with the outlet obstruction syndrome, and gr. 4 with simultaneous complaints of the 2 and 3 gr. The results were analyzed statistically. The defecography of the patients with soiling revealed significantly higher values of the neorecto anal angles, the diameter of the anal canal, a significant decrease of neorectum size and involuntary leakage of the contrast at rest. The patients with the outlet obstruction syndrome manifested significantly larger neorectal diameter values, a prolonged defecation time. In this group of the patients intussusceptions, rectoceles, stricture of the anastomosed region were diagnosed. The results of manometrie examinations indicated a significant decrease in the basal anal pressure, squeeze pressure and significant abnormalities of the recto anal inhibitory reflex of the patients with soiling. Vector volume, radial asyrnetry were proven to be equally effective in discriminating between patients with poor stool control. The correlation analysis of defecography and manometry parameters indicated that these parameters provide independent descriptions of abnormal defecation, but t ; he analysis ofneorecto anal angles may confirm the manometrie results. Dynamic proctodefecography is an examination that constitutes a very good supplement to manometrie assessment of patients with previous low anterior resection of the rectum.
