Abstract:

The doctoral thesis consists of 3 original publications. The first article presents the Polish adaptation of the questionnaire for the multidimensional assessment of anhedonia (DARS - Dimensional Anhedonia Rating Scale) and the results of the validation of this tool performed among patients with mood disorders and healthy controls. The Polish version of the DARS demonstrated very good psychometric parameters. In two other publications the relationship between the severity of anhedonia and selected clinical features was analyzed among patients with bipolar depression. The second publication from the doctoral thesis describes significant associations between anhedonia, disturbances of biological rhythms, functioning and depression severity. Disturbances of biological rhythms mediated the relationship between anhedonia and the severity of depression and functioning. In the third publication it was observed that hyperthymia (one of the affective temperaments) and "introverted anhedonia" (one of the domains of schizotypy) were significantly correlated with anhedonia. Hyperthymia predicted lower and introverted anhedonia predicted higher levels of consummatory anhedonia.
