The effect of mirror therapy with direct contact and the effect of distance therapy were compared. Material and methods: 73 patients were qualified for the study. They were divided into two groups with different way of supervised therapy. Finally, the study was conducted on 23 patients with direct supervision and 34 patients with telephone supervision. All subjects completed the Phantom Sensation Assessment Questionnaire After Limb Amputation and The McGill Pain Questionnaire. The mirror therapy with a special designed mirror station took place 3 times a week for 6 consecutive weeks, between from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m, and the session duration averaged 20 minutes. All person received the same verbal training instruction. Therapy sessions were held every other day. Th ; e "Therapy Diary" were complated before and after each session. The questionnaire tests were compated after the 6-week mirror therapy too. Results: The mirror therapy is an effective therapy in the reduction and elimination of phantom phenomena in patients after traumatic or vascular limb amputation. The treatment effect obtained in the group with distance supervision did not differ significantly from the effect of therapy conducted under direct supervision. The distance therapy can be an alternative to treatment with direct supervision.
