The aim of this study is to assess the health status of adult patients with hypopituitarism of various etiologies and onset of the disease based on their long-term observation. Objectives of the work 1. Development of clinical and biochemical characteristics of patients with pituitary function disorders due to post-traumatic and inflammatory causes as well as focal lesions of the pituitary stalk. 2. Elaboration of diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms in selected groups of patients with hypopituitarism. 3. Analysis of atypical clinical courses of hypopituitarism (including a rare metastasis of a neuroendocrine tumor of unknown origin to the pituitary stalk and spontaneous regression of radiological and hormonal changes in patient with hypophysitis) in the context of the proposed diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms. Long-term observational data characterizing patients with pituitary insufficiency of various etiologies were collected in the paper. The need for an individualized diagnostic and therapeutic approach is the element connecting all the described groups of patients. The proposed diagnostic algorithms are a significant help in clinical practice. The relative rarity of this type of disorder and insufficient knowledge necessitate further research in order to determine the optimal management. The case report drew attention to one of the few published so far cases of ; neuroendocrine tumor metastasis of unknown origin to the pituitary stalk. In the second case, the radiological and hormonal improvement in patient with hypophysitis, proves the effectiveness of the applied strategy of watchful waiting.
