Abstract:

The results of Phd dissertation are presented in peer-reviewed publications. The aim was to assess the potential correlation between degenerative aortic stenosis (DAS) severity, the intracranial and supraartic arterial flow parameters and the cognitive function. Additionally, the evaluation of the novel cardio-vascular and laboratory parameters potentially associated with prognosis in DAS patients were obtained. According to results, following conclusions were drawn: -Cerebral flow parameters were significantly lower in DAS patients vs without aortic stenosis -Cognitive impairment mostly depends on concomitant cardiovascular risk factor rather than DAS severity -The prevalence of elevated vascular stiffness is higher in DAS patients in comparison to the patients with cardiovascular risk factors without DAS -Elevated vascular resistance parameters of supraaortic arteries were an independent risk factor of cardiovascular events -In patients who underwent intervention for DAS, those with high vascular stiffness, presented more frequent cardiovascular events -Cytokines involved in calcification and osteogenesis process, correlate with DAS severity as well as prognosis -Parameters referred to left ventricle injury as DAS consequence (ET1, hs-TnT) are combined with cardiovascular death -Vascular stiffness parameters, female gender and Gal-3 se ; rum concentration were associated with heart failure episodes
