Introduction- Arthroplasty is the method of choice in the surgical treatment of osteoarthritis of the hip joint. The main indication for this treatment is pain resulting from degenerative changes in the hip, which significantly reduces the quality of life, making it impossible to perform everyday activities freely. The number of hip arthroplasty procedures is systematically growing. To improve results a protocol was introduced according to which patients are prepared for surgery, surgery is performed and treatment is carried out in the postoperative period. Material and methods - 362 people were qualified for the study. The patients were divided into 2 groups: the ST group consisted of 121 patients treated according to the standard protocol and the AU group consisted of 241 patients managed according to the proprietary protocol. To evaluate the obtained results, the HHS (Harris Hip Score) scale was used to assess the level of patients 'functionality, the WOMAC (The Western McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index) scale - to assess the level of patients' functionality, the PASE scale - Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly - to assess the level of physical activity , NRS scale - from the assessment of the severity of pain, the length of the patient's stay in the hospital and the number of intra- and postoperative complications (orthopedic and general). Results - a stat ; istically significant improvement between measurements was noticed in all dependent subjects, except for postoperative complications. Significant statistical differences between the groups, indicating a greater impact of the proprietary protocol based on the ERAS guidelines, were observed only in relation to the HHS, WOMAC scales and length of stay in hospital. Conclusions - The proprietary protocol of the procedure significantly more influenced the improvement of the functional level of the studied patients and the shortening of the patients' stay in the hospital in relation to the standard protocol of the procedure. However, the proprietary protocol of the procedure did not significantly affect the physical activity of the studied patients or the pain level of the studied patients in relation to the standard protocol.
