The subject of this work is to evaluate the consequences of femoral shaft fracture in childhood. The material consists of the group of 54 children with the broken femoral shaft who were cured conservatively. The minimal follow up period was 7 years. 41 patients were analysed. It was to evaluate subjective suffering and deviation in clinical examination according to the homogeneous protocol. Moreover, the examination was extended to hips and knees x- rays. Various radiological parameter of pelvis was checked, including density in the region of proximal femoral shaft on digital x-rays as well as the densities of calcis bones by means of ultrasound techniques. The stability of hip and knee joints was carried out in the clinical examination. The rolimeter was used to estimate the knee stability. The research bases on the comparison of a limb which was broken in comparison to a healthy one. Subsequent conclusions drawn from the research are as following : the fracture of femoral shaft in childhood has an effect with repercussions, namely with the overgrowth of fractured limb or with seldom shortening of broken limb and posture disturbance. Besides, the patients report same discomfort in a limb, which was broken , though it is subjective. They could not define the location of the pain and how long it lasted. The pain was often described as „non characteristic pain”. No di ; fferences were found in the evaluation of hips and knees stability, in the range of motion, density of bones and in evaluation of same radiological parameters of hips.
