Abstrakt:

The work concentrates on the issue of asthma control expressed as a result of the Asthma Control Test (ACT). The aim of the study was to assess the impact of self-assessment of asthma control on the ACT score, to identify risk factors for uncontrolled asthma, and to assess psychological parameters and personality traits in patients with asthma. The cross-sectional study was conducted in two stages, followed by a case report of a patient with uncontrolled asthma. In the first stage, 417 asthmatics were evaluated in terms of asthma control with ACT. Also, reliability of ACT and correlation between ACT questions and overall test score was evaluated. In cluster analysis, clusters of patients were distinguished and characterized. Moreover, the degree of agreement between responses to ACT items was examined. In the second stage, 104 asthmatics were examined, with assessment of asthma control with the ACT and with analysis of clinical and psychological parameters in patients with controlled and uncontrolled asthma. Independent risk factors for uncontrolled asthma were identified, and correlations of psychological parameters in the controlled and uncontrolled asthma group were assessed.
