We have evaluated 102 patients aged 20–67 treated for depression in a cross-sectional analysis. All participants met the DSM-5 and ICD-10 criteria for depression. Depressive symptoms were assessed with the HDRS and QIDS-SR. LUTS were examined with the IPSS. Health-related quality of life of analyzed individuals was assessed with the GHQ-30. Sleep quality was assessed with the HSDQ. Due to certain studies linking symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) with sleep disturbance and depression, OAB symptoms and OAB-related quality of life were assessed with the ICIQ-OAB and ICIQ-OABqol scales. Our results showed correlation between severity of depression assessed with the QIDS-SR and severity of LUTS assessed with the IPSS in whole studied group. In women, the total IPSS score correlated with the QIDS-SR score and with the total GHQ score. The study revealed also statistically significant correlation between nocturia and sleep quality. Symptoms of OAB were more severe in women than in men. OAB symptoms correlated with depressive symptoms in the whole studied group. LUTS had negative impact on quality of life of depressed patients. Due to limitations of this study further researches are essential to reveal more details of the investigated relationships.
