The aim of the study is to assess the severity of motor dysfunctions in the form of neurological soft signs (NSS), cerebellar soft signs (CSS) and implicit motor learning deficits in bipolar disorder (BD) as compared to the group of healthy volunteers (HV) and the group of schizophrenia (SZ) patients. We have evaluated 33 BD patients, 33 SZ patients and 31 HV. NSS were assessed using the Neurological Evaluation Scale. CSS were evaluated with the use of the International Cooperative Ataxia Rating Scale. Implicit motor learning was measured using Serial Reaction Time Task procedure. BD patients showed increased severity of NSS and CSS in comparison with the HV. NES and ICARS scores did not differentiate BD and SZ patients. Implicit motor learning analysis revealed no indices of learning in BD patients. We have shown the presence of inverted learning curve features in this clinical group. BD patients showed a comparable severity of implicit motor learning as SZ patient.
