Title: Long term follow up of patients with peripheral artery disease undergoing endovascular procedures in cardiology department

Abstract:

This research dissertation aimed to assess the short-term and long-term outcomes in patients undergoing peripheral angioplasty, with evaluation of periprocedural anticoagulation therapy. The following conclusions were drawn from the conducted research: 1. In patients with chronic occlusion of the superficial femoral artery after at least one unsuccessful antegrade recanalization, retrograde access is safe and connected with low risk of complications in short and long-term observation. 2. Diabetes is an independent risk factor for death in patients after retrograde recanalization of the superficial femoral artery. 3. Usage of bivalirudin as main anticoagulation during percutaneous peripheral procedures is associated with a lower risk of periprocedural bleeding complications in this group of patients.
