Title: Evaluation of the effectiveness of conservative treatment of idiopathic scoliosis with the SpineCor dynamic brace, including the special program of kinesiotherapy, and its influence on the results of the surgical correction of progressive curves

Abstract:

The study evaluated the effectiveness of a complex treatment of idiopathic scoliosis using the SpineCor system and presented the effect of preoperative treatment with SpineCor dynamic corrective brace on the efficiency of surgical correction and restoration of coronal balance.Materials and methods:The first study assessed a group of patients, with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis treated with SpineCor brace. Control group was patients, at whom dynamic SpineCor brace was used but no physical exercise programme. The second and third study encompassed patients who underwent surgery to correct lateral curve deformation of the spine. The study group (Group A) comprised patients who underwent preventive treatment with a SpineCor dynamic brace. The rest of the patients, who did not undergo preventive treatment, constituted the control group (Group B). The magnitude of curve deformation was assessed based on the Cobb angle. Measurements were taken before the surgical procedure (measurement 1), directly after the surgery (measurement 2), and 12 months after the surgery (measurement 3). Subsequently, the correction of the curve was calculated at both and coronal balance at third article. Results:First article: within the study group with SRS (Skoliosis Research socjety) positive outcome was observed in 64,3%. In control group - 42.9%. In the scond article satisfactory correction was obtain ; ed in Groups A and B, as shown from both measurement. In the third article in both groups satisfactory deformity correction was achieved after surgery and in a 12 month follow-up . Directly after surgery, patients preoperatively treated with SpineCor brace displayed smaller CB deviation.
