Celiac disease (morbus visceralis), is an immune-mediated enteropathy of the small intestine caused by gluten intolerance. The only method to treat the disease is a strict diet permanently eliminating gluten. The main aim of the research was to determine the parental attitudes towards the children with the disease, as well as their knowledge about dietary recommendations, relating to parents' expectations towards doctors treating their children. Parents have a high level of acceptance towards the child compared to a normalizing group, comparable to the reference group, however, parents set requirements for their children, build the child's sense of autonomy, show a consistent emotional attitude towards the child and protect the child. Both parents possess the extensive knowledge on the elimination diet rules.Parents mainly expect their children's doctors to diagnose and explain the cause of the poor health condition, to obtain information on examinations and treatment on average, and to get emotional support on the lowest level. The overprotective mothers, uncertain about the regularity of treatment, need more support from the doctor in this regard. The inconsistent mothers, do not present any expectations regarding the further diagnosis. It is important to support parents in developing the most conducive attitudes to the development of a chronically ill child.
