It induces systemic inflammatory response influencing early and late results. In this work an influence of nitric oxide (NO) inhalation into the oxygenator during CPB on inflammatory response was assessed. Thirty patients were enrolled to the study and 14 randomly obtained NO inhalation. 9 samples of blood were taken preoperatively, intraoperatively and during postoperative period. All procedures were carried out using identical methodology and technique.Screening of 96 factors using Human Proteome Profiler Arrays was carried out. Based on it, 12 factors were selected for high sensitivity analysis with Miliplex Map Map Kit assays.Descriptive statistics and repeated measures ANOVA were used for statistical evaluation and p<0.05 was accepted as significant. Patients who received NO inhalation revealed inhibition of inflammatory (lower concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines) and metabolic (lower insulin, glucose and pentraxin level) response, amplification of anti-inflammatory response (anti-inflammatory interleukins) lower organ and heart protection (lower lactate, CKMB and TnI levels). Patients with NO inhalation showed also shorter respiratory support time and lower catecholamine index.
