Abstract:

The aim of our study was to determine if serum endotoxin activity is increased in stroke patientsand correlates with functional outcome. The participants for this study were recruited from strokepatients hospitalized in Department of Neurology, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. Theinclusion criteria were: (1) ischemic stroke; (2) time from stroke symptoms onset to admission<24h; (3) prestroke modified Rankin Scale (mRS) 0-2. Exclusion criteria were: (1) a lack of patient’sinformed consent and (2) history of autoimmune or chronic inflammatory diseases.
