Obesity is now a global public health problem. It regards to adults and children. Etiopathogenesis of obesity includes a number of environmental and genetic factors that by their action lead to the development of atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes type 2, metabolic syndrome, farty liver and premature death. The aim of the doctoral thesis was analysis of viability and secretory activity of adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs) isolated from adipose tissue treated with low frequency (7Hz, 30mT) pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF). In studies involving ADSCs exposed to PEMF, there were determined produced by cells adipokines such as adiponectin, leptin, resistin and mediators of inflammatory response - TNF-a and IL-6 in cell culture supematants and animal sera by ELISA technique. In experimental research model, to isolate ADSCs there were used animals of different age (pups and adults ones), gender (males and females) and different caloric content of consumed daily food (low-fat diet - LF and high-fat diet-HF, used to induce obesity). PEMF exerted effects on ADSCs cultures have been the most spectacular in experiments with ADSCs isolated from the group of obese adult females - PEMF treatment caused in highest extent induction of early apoptosis. ADSCs cultures derived from female pups PEMF exposure was responsible for an increase of adiponectin synthesis and reduction of IL- ; 6 production. Low-frequency PEMF activity could contribute to the development and implementation of non-invasive therapy in the future treatment of metabolic disorders in obesity.
