Tytuł: The effectiveness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the case of in-hospital cardiac arrest

Abstrakt:

The aim of the study was the assessment of early (return of spontaneous circulation - ROSC) and late (discharge from the hospital) mortality rate of the patients who were subject to in-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the assessment of the factors influencing early and late mortality rate of the patients who underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation due to in-hospital cardiac arrest. The prospective study was conducted in the adult patients who were resuscitated at the Edward Szczeklik Specialist Hospital in Tarnów in the period from January 2012 to December 2014. The patients were assessed on the basis of the return of spontaneous circulation and survival until discharge from the hospital considering the place where the patient was discharged. The resuscitation protocol binding at the Edward Szczeklik Hospital in Tarnów was applied in the study. The survival rate of the patients who were subject to cardiopulmonary resuscitation due to sudden cardiac arrest until discharge from the hospital was 19,8%. The patients who experienced sudden cardiac arrest in shockable rhythm survived until discharge more often than the patients who experienced cardiac arrest in non-shockable rhythm. The survival rate of the monitored patients until discharge from the hospital was higher than the one in patients whose life parameters were not constantly monitored. The patients whose resuscit ; ation time was shorter than 10 minutes more frequently survived until discharge. The patients who experienced sudden cardiac arrest between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. significantly more frequently obtained ROSC. The age of the patient influenced both the occurrence of ROSC and survival until discharge. Both ROSC and the survival rate until discharge were higher in patients under the age of 75. The relationship between the cause of the sudden cardiac arrest and survival until discharge was confirmed. The patients who experienced sudden cardiac arrest due to cardiac causes more frequently survived until discharge.
