The main goal of the study was to investigate the relationship between selected polymorphisms of the coagulation factors genes and inflammatory mediators genes and risk of primary intracerebral haemorrhage (PICH), according to its location, in two European populations: Polish and Greek. The following polymorphisms were analysed: FGB -455G>A, F13A1 Val34Leu, CRP +1444C>T and IL6 -174G>C. The Polish group consisted of 245 patients diagnosed with PICH and 422 healthy volunteers in the control group. The Greek group consisted of 250 patients and 250 healthy volunteers in the control group. In order to identify the analysed polymorphisms as independent risk factors for ICH the multivariate analysis was performed including those variables which distribution between the patients and healthy controls was significantly different. The association was found between polymorphisms: FGB -455G>A, F13A1 Val34Leu, CRP +1444C>T and risk of intracerebral haemorrhage in Polish population and IL6 -174G>C polymorphism and risk of intracerebral haemorrhage in Greek population.
