The inflammation, which is a response of tissuesto damaging agents is a natural adaptive process in thehuman body. However, chronic inflammatory process canbe associated with the pathogenesis of cardiovasculardisease, cancer and metabolic syndrome.The purpose of this research aims to determinedpotential anti-inflammatory properties of biomass extractsfrom in vitro cultures of selected edible mushrooms:Imleria badia − bay bolete, Cantharellus cibarius − goldenchanterelle and Agaricus bisporus − white bottommushroom. These popular mushroom species are a richsource of phenolic and indole compounds, unsaturated fattyacids and bioelements with anti-inflammatory activity.To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of the testedextracts several cell lines: RAW 264.7, A549 and CaCo-2were used. The effects of mushroom extracts on theexpression of inflammatory markers, such ascyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), prostaglandin E (cPGES),glutathione S-transferase (GSTM1), FP-receptor protein,interleukin-6 (IL-6), and transcriptional factors PPARγ,NF-ĸB and Nrf2 were analyzed.The tested extracts showed anti-inflammatory activityin the used in vitro models. Received results showedsignificant inhibition of inflammatory markers caused bytested extracts from I. badia, C. cibarius and A. bisporusand also a stimulatory effect on the nuclear factor Nrf2-dependent detoxification processes. Additionally, obtai ; nedresults showed the importance of zinc and α-linolenic acidduring inflammatory processes in tested cell lines.
