Subject: Self-health evaluation and health behaviors among mothers of adult children with disabilities.Introduction: The birth of a child with disability is associated with impaired family functioning, including significant burden on mother which has an impact on their health.Aim: The aim of the work is to understand the self-health evaluation and health behaviors among mothers of adult children with disabilities.Material and methods: The study involved 75 mothers parenting achild with disability and 66 parenting a healthy child. For data collection used standardized research and author’s questionnaire.Results: Self-health evaluation of mothers from the study group was significantly different in subscales: energy, pain, emotional reactions, social alienation, movement limitations, except for sleep disorders comparing to a group of mothers nurturing healthy children. Mother nurturing children with disabilities varied significantly in a way of health behavior when comparing to mothers from comparison group (except for health behavior associated with safety).Conclusions: Mothers of adult children with disabilities demonstrate worse self-health evaluation and less positive health behaviors comparing to mothers of healthy children.Keywords: people with disabilities, mothers, self-health evaluation, health behaviors, social support
