Abstract:

The aim of this study was to assess the influence of psychodynamic psychotherapy on perceived parental bonding and the efficacy of psychotherapeutic treatment in patients with personality disorders. The outcome of therapy was measured by PBI, DSQ40, KON-2006, KO SIII and Patient Biography Questionnaire. The sample consisted of 89 patients. All the patients were treated in one of two psychotherapy centres in Krakow i.e. OP DDA or OLZON. The psychodynamic psychotherapy was the main treatment intervention in both groups. The group of patients treated in OP DDA showed change in perceived parental bonding. They reported some reduction of maternal and paternal care and an increase in maternal overprotection. The results of the analysis proved the efficacy of the treatment of patients with personality disorder in both centres. The best outcome of therapy was observed in the dimensions of disturbed personality traits and symptoms of psychopathology.
