Title: Optimal technique of coronary angioplasty in patients with myocardial infarction and lesion located on coronary artery bifurcation

Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Data concerning the impact of lesions located on bifurcations in patients with ACS is limited AIM: analyse techniques and strategies used, assess optimal proceedings. METHODS: Patients were divided into 2 groups. Group I: intervention within main branch and side branch. Group II: intervention only in main branch. Demographic and clinical characteristics were evaluated. Angiographical assessment was carried out and techniques and complications analysed. RESULTS: A flow improvement was observed in both groups. A worse flow was observed in side branch, especially in group II, without statistical significance. TIMI 3 in main branch was obtained in 92% in group I and in 87% in group II, TIMI 3 in side branch in 97% and 80 %, respectively. A full ST segment resolution in patients with STEMI was comparable. Majority of the procedural complications concerns patients without secured side branch, statistically insignificant.CONCLUSIONS: Optimization of side branch neither affects the length of procedure nor increases quantity of contrast media. It is not connected with significant cardiovascular complications, ensuring a better result.
