Praca doktorska
The work has presented pseudo-medical therapeutic methods and modes popular in the nineteenth century, profiles of their creators and recommended medications. The work consists of three parts. The first one attempts to have the existing 19th c. medical theories juxtaposed with the actual needs of hands-on medical practice, based on select doctrines and ideas prevalent at the time. The second part discusses various treatment methods and medications, while the third one is comprised of an appraisal of prevalent attitudes within the medical profession (medics and pharmacists) with regard to popularity of pseudo-medical therapeutic methods, an outline of applicable healthcare legislation regulating the issue of the actual application of those treatment methods, and a round-up of distribution methods and ways of advertising the medicaments specifically recommended by the authors of such treatment methods.
