Abstract:

Dermal wound healing is a dynamic process, which is regulated bycytokines and growth factors. The result of wound healing is scarformation. In order to determine regulators of process of scarformation, treatment with use of dermal regeneration template Integra® was investigated. The study hypothesis is: dermal regeneration template Integra® reduces inflammatory response in early stages of wound healing. To test the hypothesis, experimental and clinical projects were performed. In the experimental study, plasma levels of IL-4; IL-6; IL-10; TNF-α; FGF-2; GM-CSF; PDGF-BB; TGF-β1; TGF-β2 and TGF-β3 were measured in mice treated with Integra® in compare to controls. In the clinical project, plasma levels of EGF, TGF-β1, FGF-2, VEGF, IFN-α, GM-CSF, IL-4, IL-8, MMP-2, MMP-9 and hsCRP were measured in 15 pediatric patients treated with Integra® for reconstructive procedures in 4 time points. Results were compared with treatment progress and outcome.
