Abstract:
Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases occurring in children and adolescents. Often associated with other autoimmune diseases, such as Hashimoto's disease and celiac disease. Data from the literature indicate a potential risk of occurrence of inflammatory bowel disease in patients with diabetes, and the predictive value of antibody offers the possibility of early identification of patients at risk of developing these diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the type and incidence of antibodies specific to autoimmune diseases, such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and celiac disease in children with type I diabetes and to determine their clinical relevance. To this effect, the group of l 00 diabetic patients (50 boys, 50 girls) randomly selected from among the 600 patients, who had been followed-up in a tertiary center for pediatric diabetes, interview, physical examination, auksological examination, laboratory tests performed and assayed antibodies specific to inflammatory bowel disease (ANCA, PAb, GAB, ASCA) and celiac disease (EmA) (study I and II). Selection of patients with diabetes and preseance of antibodies specific to inflammatory bowel disease allows for observation and to obtain further information about the time period and the possible determination of subclinical disease incidence inflammatory bowel disease in patients with type 1 ; diabetes.
