Tytuł: Assess of pulp vitality in immature permanent teeth after a mechanical injury
Abstrakt:
Standard methods of vitality tests are significantly limited, and actually only assess the pulp's sensitivity to sensory stimuli, and not its vitality. One of the parameters defining its correct operation is the blood flow index. The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of the Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) technique with conventional methods used to assess pulpal status in immature teeth at an early stage after a mechanical injury. The study group was composed of 30 immature permanent teeth after mechanical injury, and the control group consisted of 30 healthy contralateral teeth m children aged between 7 and 12. Observations were made over a period of 12 months, on the basis of six visits. LDF made possible to differentiate between vital and not-vital pulp in the study group. Among post-traumatic teeth with preserved blood flow, in the first three months cases were recorded with significantly lower LDF values when compared to the control group. However, in this period and in further months, steadily decreasing flax values were recorded up to the values in contra-lateral teeth. The cases and the examples of increased LDF flux reflect actual revascularization. The results prove that the LDF method provides for much earlier recognition of features of preserved vitality in the pulp of teeth forming the subject of this study than widely applied t ; hermal and electrical tests, which facilitates therapeutic decisions.
