Tytuł: Evaluation of the selected immunological parameters and fibrosing factors in atrophoderma Pasini-Pierini and morphea en plaques
Abstrakt:
Despite significant differences m the clinical picture morphea en plaques (MP) and atrophoderma Pasini-Pierini (APP) are regarded as particular types of localized scleroderma. The aim of this study was to determine similarities and/or differences between MP and APP. Following methods are used in the study: ELFA, ELISA, immunofluorescent, radioimmunologic and immunohistochemical examination. Vertebral column changes were found to be more frequent in the group of patients with MP. Antinuclear antibodies and antibodies against Borrelia burgdorferi were found more often among patients with APP. We also found correlation between level of PIIINP in supernatans and duration of the disease in patients with MP. In our study we observed different level of PIIINP and PINP in the serum and in the supernatant among patients with MP, APP and control. 80% of changed skin biopsies obtained from patients with APP showed low or high expression of collagen type I, in 71.4% of patients with MP we found high and very high expression of collagen type I. In 73.33 % of patients with APP, expression of collagen type III was low but in the MP group 35.71 % of patients showed high, and 14.29% showed very high collagen type III expression. More frequently high and very high expression of collagen type I and III coexisted with presence of active changes in patients with MP. Statistically significant was th ; e difference in number of mastocytes present in control group, compared with number of mastocytes in each of the individual groups of patients. Statistically relevant correlation between the duration of disease, and the number of mastocytes and between the degree of collagen type I and III expression, and the number of mastocytes was found in the group of patients with MP.
