The aim of the study was to evaluate effectiveness of the combined surgical and orthodontic treatment which was carried out on a group of patients with dentofacial deformities, skeletal class III. The analysis was embarked on 30 patients (19 women - 63,33 % and 11 men - 36,67%). An average age of the women was 22,84 and for the men:23,89. The study was undertaken before the combined surgical and orthodontic treatment and 12 months after the surgery. The following elements were analysed: facial features, occlusal relationships, mandible and maxilla relationship which were cephalometrically analysed, complications of the orthodontic as well as surgical treatment and the patient and the doctor's evaluation of the treatment results. The results were statistically analysed, follow a non-parametric test of rank signs, the Fisher sign test, the standard chi- square test, and the Spaerman's correlation ratio test. Level p < 0,05 was taken for the essence. The preparatory orthodontic treatment was efficient, because the effective dento-alveolar decompensation was carried as well as the upper and lower dental arch occurred to be in harmony. The surgical treatment was efficient because it obtained an elongation of the maxillary length, a reductio n of the mandible length and the mutual improvement in the maxillae and mandible anteroposterior relationships. After the combined surgical an ; d orthodontic treatment the improvement in aesthetic of facial features and occlusal relationships have been gained, both in objective and subjective estimation.
