TY - GEN A1 - Kulesa-Mrowiecka, Małgorzata N2 - INTRODUCTION Through researches followed there is no significant correlation between type and intensity of rehabilitation during treatment with BTX-A. Positive results of treatment with BTX-A shows many of the prospective and retrospective trials. OBJECTIVES: The trial was undertaken under consideration to clarify differences between control and injection group and the measure of efficiency of treatment after serial doses of BTX-A. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Children with cerebral palsy were allocated to control group- 165 and injection group- 173 cases. Outcome measure included the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), ROM (range of motion), MFIM test, Global Clinical Impression (GCI). RESULTS: The results confirms that the treatment with BTX- A depends on age, dose, interval between injections, type of paralysis, as well as the time and place of rehabilitation. The statistically relevant determinants of chances for improvements were the methods and the place. The chance of improvement increased four times with NDT therapy and three times in rehabilitation center. CONCLUSIONS: The most effective improvement of motion after BTX-A treatment was observed in children with diplegia and hemiplegia walking without aids.Patients without required rehabilitation (5 cases, due to social reasons), after using BTX-A presented even worse results than at the baseline. Permanent and neurodevelopmental re N2 - habilitation is a condition of using BTX-A in children with CP.
