Paroxysmal dyspnoea and tormenting cough which characterize asthma, discriminate patients’ quality of life greatly. From all of the allergic diseases asthma is the most frequent cause of sickness absence, hospitalization, disability and deceases. In the view of these facts, it was decided to examine the level of patients' knowledge about the disease and estimate the quality of life before the educational program at School for the Sick from Asthma began and then 6 months after it ended. The investigated group included 100 persons suffering from bronchial asthma participating in the educational program at School for the Sick from Asthma at the II Chair of Internal Diseases CMUJ in Krakow.
