Also the influences of parameters like age, sex, severity of injury described by the Numbered Scale of Injury (LSO) and body region of injury on the economical impact of injuries were equaled. After the analysis the DGR (Diagnostic Group of Risk) distribution was created. It gives possibility to equal an individual groups between each others. Study group consists of 3435 trauma patients treated in the 2nd Chair of Surgery, Medical College of Jagiellonian University between 1999-2002 and 179 patients, who died in the place of accident (this group I possessed from data taken from Chair of Forensic Medicine, Medical College of Jagiellonian University). Patients were divided into 32 groups named DGR’s – diagnostic risk group. This division was based on injuries severity described by Numbered Scale of Injuries, body region of injury (head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, upper and lover extremity and multiple organs injury), age and sex (two ages groups – productive age – men below 65 years old and women below 60 years old – and postproductive age). In each group I assessed an amount of injuries, severity, morbidity and mortality, mechanism of injury and additional factors attendant injury. For each patient the direct costs of trauma (result of real cost of treatment and hospitalization) and indirect}, abstract={costs (including calculations of compensations, sick leaves, benefits and loss of gross domestic product) were calculated. The indirect costs data was valued according to GUS basic data. The direct costs of the treatment of all injuries were assessed – more than 6,5 mln zl. But it is only a 2, 64 % of total costs. The economic results of injuries for the society were identified – 19,78 % active people professionally over on pension because of the injuries, and 8,19 % lost life lost because of the injury. These datas could evaluated that the number of injuries in Poland grows continually. Their severity also increases. And for this, economic losses grow in the figure of direct and indirect costs. The treatment of injuries in Polish hospitals are priced by NFZ in a wrong way, and the debts of hospitals raises by this considerably. It has also significant influence on the quality of the treatment, and on the patient’s future life. This is the cause for the increased periods of the morbid absence in the large part of cases, and the same considerable rising up the costs of indirect injuries. Creation of DGR’s could help in better evaluation of medical procedures by the National Health Fundation in the future. It could have influence on significant decreasing of indirect and total cost of injury.}, title={The role of new creating Diagnostic Group of Risk (DGR) to analysis an economic impacts of injuries}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={LSO (Numbered Scale of Injury), costs of injuries, severity of injuries, the economic after-effects of injuries}, }
