Based on the shortage of socio-medical studies examining the social causes of adolescent pregnancy in Poland and with the intention of designing better health promotion interventions meant to prevent the occurrence of this event, the aim of this study is to identify the risk factors for adolescent pregnancy. This study was conducted using a structured questionnaire administered among adolescent mothers and non-parenting adolescents. Participants in both groups were aged 15-19 years. Logistic regression analysis found that adolescents who are the daughters of women not involved in a married relationship and those who reported the highest level of education in their household as secondary school or lower are at a higher risk of pregnancy. The background of most adolescent mothers tends to reflect a certain lack of social capital. As a result, a different dynamic seems to guide the socialization processes of adolescent mothers. Socialization processes are shaped by belief systems, parental attitudes, values, socio-structural conditions, and parents’ ecological experiences. The end result is that adolescents identify with different groups or social contexts, therefore espousing different sets of expectations, beliefs, values, and social norms.}, title={The social determinants of adolescent pregnancy}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={adolescent pregnancy, sex education, socialization, reproductive health}, }
