Increasing migration trends and the presence of migrants in society affect the functioning of various institutions. Particular implications arise from the health needs of migrants and from cultural differences. The aim of this study was to assess the state of preparedness of selected areas of the health care system in Poland for the increased influx of migrants and refugees, including asylum seekers. The specific objectives were: • identification of relevant legal regulations; • identification of the institutional context; • assessment of the system's preparedness in terms of medical staff education. A desk research method was adopted as the research method, including a review of legislation, other documents and literature and analysis of statistical data. In order to select a model for assessing health systems to large influx of migrants and refugees, the tools used in Europe during the 2015-2016 migration crisis were reviewed. The focus was on three issues: legal regulations, organisation of the provision of services and human resources. By design, the work was intended to be prospective; the massive influx of refugees from Ukraine to Poland led to it being extended to include this aspect, the legal status being set at 15.4.2022.
