The aim of the study was to examine the effectiveness of the photodynamic inactivation of periopathogens with the use of two groups of photosensitizers: phenothiazinium dyes (excited by red light) and hybrid photocatalytic materials based on TiO2 (excitrd with blue light). The experiments were performed with the use of bacteria strains: : P. gingivalis, A. actinomycetemcomitans and F. nucleatum. Phenothiazinium dyes were more effective than TiO2-based photosensitizers in the photodynamic inactivation of P. gingivalis and F. nucleatum.
