The primary objective of this study was to demonstrate the correlation between endocrine disorders taking place in the body and the increased colonization of the oral cavity by certain microorganisms, especially to check if there is a relationship between the qualitative and quantitative composition of an oral microbiome and the level of a sex hormones, and whether the obtained results indicate the need to implement an appropriate procedure which would improve the patient’s medical state. There were also undertaken the identification of possible relationships between the microbiota and the level of thyroid hormones. The patients were examined according to a number of generally accepted principles. The information was gathered in a form. Based on their medical history the patients were divided into groups. An examination was performed, after which the material was collected for bacteriological and mycological tests using swabs from the oral cavity, as well from vagina. A blood sample was obtained from a vein in the arm, which was used to determine hormone levels.
