Aims of the study: -to define the frequency of alleles of both genes in the population of Krakow region, and to compare the frequency of polymorphic alleles in hypertensives and normotensives. -to evaluate the relationship between these polymorphisms and parameters of remodeling and arterial stiffness, blood pressure values and circadian changes. The study population consisted of 294 subjects from 83 nuclear families. Hypertensives did not differ significantly from normotensives in the frequency of polymorphic genotypes and alleles. Carriers of -344C allele had higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure at night and a smaller nocturnal systolic and diastolic blood pressure fall. Younger carriers of-344C allele had higher systolic blood pressure in the entire 24 hours as compared with TT homozygotes. In the study population and in generation groups carriers of - 344C allele as compared with TT homozygotes had higher peripheral and aortic augmentation index. Analysis of a single Gly460Trp polymorphism of α adducin gene did not show its relationship with the phenotypes studied. Sodium consumption significantly modulates the relationship between Gly460Trp polymorphism and -344C allele and the vascular phenotypes studied}, abstract={._}, title={Alfa adducin and aldosterone synthase gene polymorphism and elastic properties of large arteries}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={alfa adducin, aldosterone synthase, blood pressure, stiffness, sodium}, }
