The usefulness of thoracic Electrical Impedance Segmentography (EIS) for functional assessment of the respiratory tract in 4-year-old children born with VLBW was tested. We also analyzed their spontaneous ventilation pattern using the EIS. In the same group of children aged 7 years we recorded respiratory symptoms and pulmonary function using impulse oscillometry and spirometry. The results were compared with the control group. It has been shown that the use of EIS is feasible in the group of preschool children whose cooperation is limited. A pattern of bronchodilator response was described in children with BPD. We observed a significant increase in the inspiratory-expiratory electrical impedance amplitude in gravity-nondependent regions of the lungs in this group. At both time points, a high prevalence of respiratory symptoms was found in children with BPD. These children were more likely to obtain abnormal pulmonary function test results at 7 years of age. We detected a correlation between the bronchodilator response β2-agonist at 4 years of age and total respiratory resistance at 7 years of age in children with BPD.}, title={Assessment of selected aspects of long-term respiratory complications of prematurity}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={prematurity, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary function testing, spirometry, impulse oscillometry}, }
