The relationship between time from injury to treatment, type of surgical reconstruction, site of bone graft donor site, type of diplopia and treatment outcome was assessed. The relationship between the location of the fracture and the size of the enophthalmos was also analyzed. The study included 730 patients, including 130 women and 600 men, aged 4 to 77 years, average 28 years, treated for a fracture of the orbital floor in the our Department between 1975 and 2015. Only patients with orbital floor fracture were included in the study. Fractures in other areas of the orbit, as well as coexistence of other fractures in the facial part of the skull, were excluding criterias. Complete recovery was achieved in 438 (60%) patients, improvement in 175 (24%) and no improvement in 117 (16%) patients. Correct eyeball position was achieved in a similar percentage of adults and children after surgical treatment. The relationship between enophthalmos and the location of the fracture had a stronger asociation in the adult group. In the case of bone graft reconstruction, better results were obtained in adults. Due to the differences in the clinical image of orbital floor fractures in children and adults, diagnosis and treatment of orbital fundus fractures in chil}, abstract={dren may be more challenging.}, title={Enophthalmos as a prognostic factor in blow-out fracture of the orbit in the material of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery of the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow in 1975-2015}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={enophthalmos, blow-out fracture of the orbit, diplopia}, }
