The main goal of the study was the assessment of health coaching introduced as additional element in standard care for patients with chronic HCV liver disease. Patients with chronic HCV liver disease (treatment according to the current recommendations) who were randomized into an experimental or control group. Two assessments of: general self-efficacy, resiliency, adherence and general health (standardized questionnaires) were accomplished at the start and the end of the therapy. In the coaching group the III assessment was performed 3 months after therapy ending. The following changes were observed in favour of health coaching: self-efficacy enhancement; increase in 2 out of 5 subscales of scale measuring resiliency and in general health. After standardization for age and gender, the following effects were observed: increase in self-efficacy and in 3 out of 5 subscales of scale measuring resiliency, and improvement in general health. In both groups, the improvement was observed in: resiliency, 2 out of 5 subscales of scale measuring resiliency and general health. In the experimental group the positive effect persisted in the III assessment.
