 abstract={This dissertation was based on a monothematic cycle of two articles regarding anatomy of the left atrium. The aims of this study were: (1) to create anatomical description of the alternative isthmus region including surrounding structures, (2) to provide anatomical specification off the left atrial ridge. 200 human hearts were collected during routine forensic sections and included in the study. Morphometric measurements of selected structures were made. The potential clinical aspect of the alternative isthmus and the left atrial ridge was discussed.},
