In Małopolska voivodeship, 36% of respondents could not list a single risk factor and 46% of respondents listed incorrectly other characteristics as associated with higher risk of CVD. There were differences in knowledge of risk factors mainly by education and gender. Participants who watched the educational materials were 2-5 times more likely to have knowledge of particular risk factors. The relation was independent of age, gender, education, place of residence, and personal and family history of CVD.Despite the limitations related to the method of screening with a use of postal questionnaire, the results showed that knowledge of CVD risk factors was poor in the adult population of the Małopolska voivodeship. There is a need of intensification of educational campaign.
