Detailed aims included assessment of: exposition at different work posts, impact of smoking status, connection between biomarkers’ concentration and ambient air monitoring, and, for 1-hydroxypyrene, comparison with occupatio-nally non exposed group to assess exposition level among individuals living near coke plant. Moreover a summary of usefulness of both biomarkers in practice was done. In addition the relationship between benzo[a]pyrene metabolite concentration and chosen mutations in genes (CYP1A1, CYP1B1, GSTM1 and GSTT1) was researched. Study group included individuals occupationally exposed to PAH, control group included individuals living around the coke plant. In the study high performance liquid chromatography and techniques based on PCR were used. Among others, the studies show statistically significant correlation with ambient air monitoring for 1-hydroxypyrene, also statistically significant differences between work posts or influence of smoking status. The dependence between concertation of 3-hyroxy-benzo[a]pyrene and mutations in chosen genes was described. In control group, a relationship between distance of living places from the coke plant and biomarker concentration was not detected.}, title={Urinary concentration of biomarkers of occupational exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and its relationship to chosen genetic mutations}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, biomarkers of occupational exposure, 1-hydroxypyrene, 3-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene, genetic mutations}, }
