Studies were performed on Wistar rats. Colitis was induced by rectal enema of acetic acid solution or dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) given to the drinking water. The study has shown that: (1) Administration of ghrelin exhibits protective effect on the large bowel against the development of the acetic acid- and DSS-induced colitis. This observation suggests that protective effect of ghrelin on colonie mucosa has the universal nature and is independent of primary cause of, colitis; (2) Administration of ghrelin accelerates the healing of the acetic acid-induced colitis. This therapeutic effect of ghrelin in colitis is mediated by the release of endogenous growth hormone and IGF-1.}, title={Influence of ghrelin administration on the development and healing of experimental mucosal injury in the colon}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={IGF-1, colitis, ghrelin, growth hormone, healing}, }
