 abstract={The aim of this study was to examine variability of blood supply of tibiofibular syndesmosis. In order to access information about the syndesmosis area 50 lower limbs were dissected. The skin, the muscles and a distal part of fibula were removed. The vessels were shown.Sections of preparations of syndesmosis in Department of Patomorphology JU MC were done. They were assessed by staining with hematoxylin and eosin. The pictures of them were taken.In the following study I showed that the tibiofibular syndesmosis is supplied by the branches of the peroneal, the anterior tibial and the posterior tibial arteries. Five main types of vascularization of syndesmosis area were distinguished.The vascular density of the syndesmosis area is small(4.8%). It may be the reason of the slow healing of the tibiofibular syndesmosis.The knowledge about the variation of the anatomical course of the arteries supplying tibiofibular syndesmosis is essential for orthopedic surgeons and for radiologists.},
