The aim of this paperis an echocardiographic assessment of left atrial size and function(LA) in patients with isolated arterial hypertension (AH) and AHcomplicated by metabolic syndrome (MS). 160 patients with nosymptoms of heart failure were assigned to the examination. The mostintense changes in LA size and function were observed in group ofpatients with MS, especially in women, which proves that obesity hasstrong influence on left ventricle filling defect. The enlargement of LAand its dysfunctions can be considered an early organ damage.Echocardiographic assessment of LA size and function is useful inidentifying patients who are potentially exposed to cardiovascularcomplications in future. It also helps to implement adequate treatmentand can effectively limit the cost of that treatment.}, title={The influence of isolated arterial hypertension and hypertensioncomplicated by metabolic syndrome on left atrial function}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={echocardiography, leftatrial size, arterial hypertension, metabolic syndrome, left atrial function}, }
