An ongoing inflammation of bronchi is accompanied by multi-step processes of remodelling which are caused by smooth muscle cells hypertrophy and subepithelial fibrosis. The latter is due to TGF-β induced fibroblasts to myofibroblasts transition. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the factors that may regulate TGF-β stimulated transition of human bronchial fibroblasts into myofibroblasts (FMT) and to compare the effects of their interactions in the context of asthma.The study showed a different effect of WNT activation on FMT potential on the cells derived from asthmatics and the people who were excluded from this disease.For the first time it was shown that under the action of TGF-β1 fibroblasts derived from asthmatics are capable of synthesis and secretion of CTGF.Additivity of the TGF-β1 and CTGF action in the induction process FMT was proved. The results presented in this thesis indicate that the predisposition to FMT is a permanent feature of asthmatics bronchial fibroblasts.}, title={Factors regulating bronchial fibroblasts to myofibroblasts transition in patients with asthma}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={transforming growth factor type β (TGF-β), fibroblasts to myofibroblasts transition (FMT), myofibroblasts, bronchial asthma, connective tissue growth factor (CTGF)}, }
